Coral Gables, Florida - Dr. Bernard Lynn Harris, known to his loved ones as Bernie passed away on April 1st, 2024 in Coral Gables, Florida at the age of 84. He was born on April 19th, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. Bernie was a dedicated doctor, determined in his pursuits and cherished his family and his dogs. He had lifelong friends and was proud of his roots having grown up in Miami Beach. Bernie attended Cranwell, Duke University and was a graduate of the University of Miami Medical School.

Bernie served in US Air Force for two years reaching the rank of Major. After his military service he pursued a successful career as an Ear Nose and Throat physician.

He loved fishing and growing spectacula­r orchids. He took a special pride in each of his grandchild­ren

Bernie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deborah Harris and his children David Harris, Keith (Alexis), Joelle Josefsberg (David), Amanda Wancier (Salomon) and Danielle. He was cherished grandfathe­r to Brandon and Taylor Harris, Jacob and Hanna Wancier, Ethan, Cooper and Mason Josefsberg, Liam and Samantha Harris. He also treasured his step granddaugh­ters Catherine and Caroline Levy. For his last five years his caretaker Susan Andrade remained by his side. The family expresses their gratitude and love for her care.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents David and Dorothy Harris, his brother Marshall Harris and beloved wife Marzena Harris.

A service to honor Bernie’s life will be held Wednesday April 3rd, 2024 at Mount Nebo Kendall 5900 SW 77th Ave. In lieu of flowers contributi­ons can be made to Miami Cancer Institute or the IDF.
