FAU star Johnell Davis to enter portal, test draft waters
Florida Atlantic star guard Johnell Davis announced his plan to leave the Boca Raton school — one way or another.
Davis entered the transfer portal late Tuesday night and said he’ll also declare for the NBA draft. Davis declared for the draft a year ago but didn’t hire an agent and ultimately returned to the Owls.
If Davis passes on the draft again this year, he’ll be one of the most coveted players in the portal.
Davis, the co-Player of the Year this season in the American Athletic Conference, averaged 18.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season and shot a career-best 41.4 percent from the 3-point line.
Davis is the fourth FAU player to enter the portal since coach Dusty May left to take the Michigan job.
Davis, a key player in FAU’s Final Four run in 2023-23, has averages of 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in 128 career games at FAU.
The Owls were eliminated by Northwestern in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

1953 . ... Ryan Conwell and Robbie Avila combined for 53 points as Indiana State knocked off Utah 100-90 on Tuesday in the NIT semifinals at Indianapolis. Conwell finished with 27 points while Avila chipped in 26 points and 10 rebounds for the top-seeded Sycamores (32-6), who were playing in the NIT Final Four less than 80 miles from their campus. Indiana State will face No. 1 Seton Hall in Thursday’s title game.
Southern California: Southern California will interview current Arkansas coach Eric Musselman for its head-coaching vacancy, On3 reported Tuesday. USC’s opening was created when Andy Enfield left the school to take the same job at SMU. Musselman,
59, took over at Arkansas in 2019 and guided the Razorbacks to three straight NCAA Tournaments from 2021-23. They went to two straight Elite Eights followed by a Sweet 16 before going 16-17 (6-12 SEC) in 2023-24.
Media: Iowa’s win over LSU in the Elite Eight on Monday shattered the record for the mostwatched women’s college basketball game by bringing 12.3 million viewers to ESPN, the cable network said. It marked ESPN’s most-watched college basketball game on record — men’s or women’s. The game was a rematch of last year’s national championship game that LSU won 102-85. That showdown held the previous women’s record at 9.9 million viewers on ABC.
