Prince Harry wins Palm Beach polo match. Then came a photo mishap

Meghan Markle knows her way around a red carpet.

Even before marrying Prince Harry, the

“Suits” star made numerous step and repeat style Hollywood appearances.

On Friday evening, Markle posed for photos in a different capacity. The mother of two joined her husband after his team won the Royal Salute Polo Challenge, held at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida.

Harry had just played to support Sentebale, the charity that he co-founded to help South African youths. The previous evening, the Duke led a panel discussing the country’s needs at a fundraiser in Miami Beach attended by “The Office” alum Mindy Kaling and others.

Markle, who is friends with Kaling, wasn’t photographed at that event, but she was front and center at the match.

The Duchess stepped up to the podium after the win, presenting Harry with the trophy, as they kiss. But then things went slightly awry.

At one point, in footage captured by the @sussexroyal_hm fan page, a woman — identified by keyboard sleuths as Sentebale Chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka — approaches the couple, positions herself next to Harry, and grabs an edge of the trophy.

But in a somewhat awkward exchange, Markle can be seen motioning for Chandauka to move away from Harry and stand next to her, which Chandauka does.

Comments on the fan page’s account were mixed. Some found Markle’s behavior “not royal,” “cringe” and “bossy.” Yet others could see why she wouldn’t want someone else posing next to her man.

“It’s her husband so f off.”

“Meghan is beautiful and Harry looks happy. Now everyone just go and mind their own business.”

“Looks like the woman didn’t know where to stand and Meg encouraged her to stand in the middle. I’m not seeing what y’all are seeing.”

Perhaps there is another reason Meghan was playing director on the podium. She and Harry are producing a Netflix documentary about polo, and the weekend’s game will be featured prominently.
