Miami, Florida - On April 29, 2024, Diane Barbara Robbins, affectionately known as “Bonnie” to all, passed away surrounded by loved ones after her long battle with cancer. Bonnie was born on March 26, 1947, to Ruth and Henry Schwartz in Brooklyn NY. She is survived by her husband Alfred Robbins and children Alison Robbins Schneider and Jennifer Robbins.

Bonnie graduated from Madison High School, Brooklyn, NY in 1963 and then attended Hunter College and Brooklyn College in New York City. She earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and went on to teach 1st grade elementary school in the New York City school system at PS16, where she loved her students dearly. It was during these years that she met the love of her life, Alfred (“Al”) Joseph Robbins. Al and Bonnie married on January 23, 1971. Following Al’s completion of dental school training, Bonnie and Al relocated to South Florida, where Al was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base. Bonnie and Al fell in love with the sunshine state and settled in the Miami area, where they raised their two daughters Alison (married to Greg Schneider) and Jennifer (married to Craig Belville). The greatest gift her daughters ever gave her were her grandchildren, Riley, Jacob, and Maddie.

After Alison and Jennifer left for college and Bonnie and Al were empty-nesters, Bonnie became an exercise enthusiast and enjoyed socializing with fellow fitness fans at the neighborhood gym. Bonnie also worked with Al managing his dental office. During her twenty years working at the office front desk, she grew close to many patients; she offered patients a friendly smile, a listening ear, and engaging conversation, and for many patients Bonnie became part of their families.

Three years ago, when diagnosed with cancer, Bonnie accepted the diagnosis bravely, without complaints or pity. She was determined that the disease would not stop her from enjoying the fervor for love and life and all the opportunity it had. She always found a way to share her big, beautiful smile, gorgeous blue eyes, and her enormous infectious heart with family and friends. She will stay with us in our hearts, and memories of her will live on with all those she touched.

There will be a private graveside service for immediate family at Lakeside Memorial Gardens on May 3, 2024. Starting at 2:00 pm, the family will receive guests at their home.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
