UW sending three more to Eugene

Wisconsin’s Molly Hanson, Joe Hardy and Kelsey Card advanced Saturday at the NCAA West preliminary track and field meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Hanson took third in her heat in the women’s 1,500 meters with a time of 4 minutes 18.60 seconds to qualify for the NCAA outdoor championships in Eugene, Ore., from June 10-13.
Hardy finished fifth in his men’s 1,500 heat to qualify. His time was 3:43.64.
Card qualified in the shot put with a second-place toss of 55 feet 61⁄ inches. She advanced in the discus Friday.
UW’s Brianna Bower threw the javelin 145-9 but will not advance.
Wisconsin’s Jesse John- son cleared 16-63⁄ in the pole vault but did not advance. Jake Wallenfang did not clear the opening height.
Brittney Feivor of Marquette ran the women’s 5,000 in 16:44.62 and will not move on. MU’s John Krzyszkowski failed to advance in the javelin, tossing it 215-0.
GOLF
Southern Methodist’s Bryson Dechambeau shot a 5-under 67 to top the NCAA men’s leader board, and Southern California opened a three-stroke lead in the team standings in Bradenton, Fla.
Oklahoma State’s Jordan Niebrugge of Mequon is at 6over 150 after a 75. Illinois’ Charlie Danielson of Osceola shot 78 and is at 8-over 152.
ROWING
The Wisconsin women are in position for a top-12 finish after the second day of the NCAA championships in Gold River, Calif.
In the varsity eight, UW clocked 6:37.559 to win its C/D semifinal. The Badgers will race in Sunday’s thirdlevel final for places 13-18.
UW’s second varsity eight was sixth in an A/B semifinal and will race in Sunday’s petite final for places 6-12.
The varsity four will compete in the third level Sunday for places 12-18 after a second-place finish in a C/D semi.
UW’s lightweight double sculls team of Gabriela Purman and Julia Glueck won the first gold on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.
