A shooting on Milwaukee’s east side early Sunday left two people injured, one of whom was arrested along with a second suspect.

The shooting was among several weekend incidents that injured a total of seven people, including an 11-yearold boy, in Milwaukee.

Police said several people were fighting in the street in the 2900 block of N. Oakland Ave., near E. Locust St., about 3:30 a.m. when gunfire struck a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman. Both are expected to survive, but the man suffered serious injuries.

Police arrested the 20year-old man for his role in the shooting. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee police saw a 30-year-old man running from the scene. He pointed a gun at the campus officers before being arrested in the 3000 block of N. Bartlett Ave., Milwaukee police said.

A gun thought to have been used in the shooting was recovered.

Other shooting incidents were reported Saturday evening.

Gunfire first broke out around 5 p.m. at a family gathering in the 3300 block of N. 21st St., where a 22year-old man and 30-yearold woman began shooting at each other, Milwaukee police said in a news release. A 30-year-old woman and 11-year-old boy also were hit by bullets.

All four were taken to hospitals for treatment and are expected to survive, and the two suspected shooters were arrested.

At 6:45 p.m., a 23-yearold man was walking in the 2700 block of N. 53rd St. when he heard gunshots and realized he had been hit, the man told police.

The man, who suffered a serious injury, didn’t see the shooter but said he noticed a red van flee the scene.
