Madison — Ticket prices for Wisconsin’s 2016 football opener against LSU on Sept. 3 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay will range from $48 to $118, according to UW officials.

UW officials announced the prices and ticket distribution on Friday.

According to a plan drawn up by Green Bay Packers officials, UW will receive 40,000 tickets, LSU will receive 20,000 and the Packers will be in control of the remaining tickets, most of which will be premium seats (suite and club seats).

Seating capacity at Lambeau is listed at 81,435.

Tickets for UW students will be $48. UW has approximately 17,400 donor and football season-ticket holder accounts.

Athletic director Barry Alvarez said in a release he hopes that most of those individuals will be able to secure tickets.

“We think we have a plan that will do that,” he said in the release. “We will not be able to accommodate all of them, but the majority of them will have access to tickets.

“We’re very sensitive to our season-ticket holders. They’ve been loyal and we want to give them an opportunity to purchase tickets.”

According to UW Athletic Board policy, UW students must have access to a percentage of tickets. For the LSU game, 7,500 tickets will be set aside for students.

Approximately 2,800 tickets will be held for internal needs — players’ families, staff, the UW band and the Wisconsin Alumni Association.

That will leave an estimated 29,700 for donors and those with season tickets.

The ticket request and allocation process for UW fans will be based on annual giving level, priority points within that giving level and season-ticket holder status as of April 30, 2016.

UW opened each of the last two seasons playing a Southeastern Conference foe at a neutral site.

The Badgers suffered a 28-24 loss to LSU in 2014 at NRG Stadium in Houston and lost last season to Alabama, 35-17, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

According to the UW release, the Badgers and Packers have talked about playing another game at Lambeau.

UW does not have an opponent scheduled for its 2018 opener.

“It’s easier to get a neutral-site game,” Alvarez said in the release.

“Some schools don’t want to play a home-andhome. They’d rather do a one-year deal than homeand-home.”

LSU finished 9-3 last season and No. 16 in The Associated Press poll and No. 17 in the coaches’ poll.

UW finished 10-3 and No. 21 in both polls in coach Paul Chryst’s first season.

Adding to the intrigue of the game is that UW lost defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to LSU shortly after the Badgers’ 23-21 victory over USC in the Holiday Bowl.

“Obviously appreciated having the chance to work with Dave,” Chryst said recently, “but it was going to be a matter of time where I thought Dave would have a chance and might leave, so something that wasn’t necessarily surprising to me when it happened.”
