5 people injured in 2 separate crashes

Two car crashes within 10 minutes of each other Saturday in Milwaukee injured five people, including two seriously, police said. According to police: In a crash at 3:47 p.m., a 30-year-old man failed to stop for a stop sign in the 2500 block of W. State St., striking another car and seriously injuring a 43-yearold woman who was thrown from her car.

The 41-year-old driver of that car suffered minor injuries, as did the 30-yearold driver of the first car, who admitted to using drugs, police said. Narcotics were found in his car, and he was arrested.

In the second crash, at 3:55 p.m., an 18-year-old woman, who witnesses say was racing another vehicle and lost control, crossed the centerline in the 5800 block of W. Forest Home Ave. and collided with another car.

The 18-year-old suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatenin­g. The 19year-old driver of the other car suffered serious injuries.
