Parkside rallies twice

Overtime win helps Rangers keep pace

Andy Mazurczak knocked down a jumper at the buzzer as UW-Parkside survived to beat Quincy, 108-107, in overtime on Saturday in Quincy, Ill., and keep pace with Bellarmine atop the East Division standings of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Kendale McCullum scored the final four points in regulation as the Rangers (20-3, 13-2 conference) rallied from eight down with 1:13 left to send the game into the extra session.

The Hawks (16-8, 10-5) led, 107-104, with 44 seconds to go, but Mazurczak hit two free throws with 27 seconds left and then the game-winner.

McCullum finished with a game-high 30 points while Mazurczak chipped in 26.

UW-Oshkosh 62, UW-La Crosse 60: Max Schebel hit a layup with 28 seconds remaining and later hit 1 of 2 free throws for the Titans (15-8, 8-4 WIAC), who moved within a game of the host Eagles (15-8, 9-3) for the top spot in the conference with two games remaining.

A.J. Mueller paced Oshkosh with 13 points while Alex Olson and Schebel each had 12.

La Crosse got 17 points from Jared Staege and 16 from Devin Yurk, who missed a threepoint­er at the buzzer.

UW-River Falls 94, UW-Plattevill­e 86 (overtime): Garrett Pearson scored six of his 20 points in overtime as the Falcons (14-9, 8-4 WIAC) held on against the visiting Pioneers (10-13, 4-8) to move within a game of first-place La Crosse.

Devin Buckley led Falls with 23 points. Robert Duax had 20 for Plattevill­e.

UW-Stevens Point 74, UWEau Claire 63: The host Pointers (13-10, 6-6 WIAC) got 17 points from Sean McGann and 16 from Ethan Bublitz as they put the conference title hopes of the Blugolds (14-9, 7-5) on life support.

UW-Whitewater 83, UWStout 70: Haki Stampley’s 24 points helped the Warhawks (15-8, 6-6 WIAC) take care of the visiting Blue Devils (4-18, 0-12)

St. Norbert 83, Knox 47: The 11th-ranked Green Knights (20-2, 17-0 Midwest) tied an NCAA Division III record in a snuffing out of the Prairie Fire (1-20, 0-17) with their 61st consecutiv­e conference victory.

St. Norbert equaled the mark of Wheaton (Ill.) establishe­d in the last 1950s.

Ripon 86, Illinois College 73: Ty Sabin hit 7 of 8 three-pointers as he had 36 points for the Red Hawks (14-7, 12-4 Midwest) in their win over the Blueboys (7-14, 4-12) at home.

Beloit 83, Monmouth 77: The Buccaneers (10-12, 8-9 Midwest) rallied after losing a 10point lead in the second half to down the host Fighting Scots (13-8, 9-7) behind 25 points and 14 rebounds from Steve McAfee.

Carroll 65, Cornell 55: Bryan Nagy’s 14-point, 13-rebound effort helped the Pioneers (17-4, 13-3 Midwest) shoot down the Rams (8-13, 6-10) in Waukesha.

Concordia 120, Aurora 110: Keith Kahlfeldt dropped in 42 points for the Falcons (14-9, 12-6 NACC), who survived on the road against the Spartans (18-5, 4-4).

Wisconsin Lutheran 82, Concordia (Ill.) 70: The Warriors (11-12, 9-9 NACC) took care of the host Cougars (5-18, 4-14) behind 22 points from Chase Nowak.

Benedictin­e 88, Edgewood 54: Host Benedictin­e (24-0, 19-0) bombarded Edgewood (320, 3-15) in Lisle, Ill., in a battle of the Eagles.

Dominican 97, MSOE 90: The Raiders (12-11, 9-9 NACC) where upset by the Stars (5-18, 3-15) in River Forest, Ill., despite getting 33 points from Austin Stueck.

Marian 106, Rockford 100: The Sabres (12-12, 9-10 NACC) got 23 points apiece from Alex Manhardt and Josh Creed as they outgunned the host Regents (13-10, 9-9).

Carthage 76, Wheaton 51: Sean Valentine’s 18 points helped the Red Men (9-14, 3-9 CCIW) quiet the Thunder (5-19, 1-12) in Kenosha.

Trinity Internatio­nal 72, Cardinal Stritch 69: The host Wolves (10-18, 7-11 CCAC) lost their 14th game of the season by five points or fewer as they fell to the Trojans (17-11, 10-9).
