Duke tips No. 7 Virginia

Allen wins game at the buzzer

Grayson Allen banked in a shot at the buzzer, and Duke beat No. 7 Virginia, 63-62, on Saturday in Durham, N.C.

Malcolm Brogdon had 18 points for Virginia (20-5, 9-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), and his reverse flip layup with 9.9 seconds left put the Cavaliers up, 62-61.

Freshman Brandon Ingram scored 25 points while Allen finished with 15 for the Blue Devils (19-6, 8-4), who won their fourth straight and kept the Cavaliers winless at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1995.

Duke called a timeout with 6 seconds left. Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said he instructed Allen: “You go. See what’s there.”

Allen inbounded the ball to Marshall Plumlee, who handed it back to the sophomore guard. Allen drove the left side of the lane before pulling up for a shot that kissed off the glass and went through at the buzzer.

“I joked to Coach K, ‘I think he traveled,’ ” Virginia coach Tony Bennett said. “He said, ‘Well, I think he got fouled.’ ”

Matt Jones finished with 14 points and Plumlee had 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils.

Anthony Gill had 12 points for the Cavaliers, whose seven-game winning streak was snapped. They lost their 17th straight visit to Cameron and haven’t beaten Coach K here since 1993.

(6) Kansas 76, (3) Oklahoma 72: Devonte’ Graham scored a career-high 27 points and the visiting Jayhawks (21-4, 9-3 Big 12) swept the season series with the Sooners.

Buddy Hield, who scored 46 points in the first meeting, scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half for Oklahoma (20-4, 8-4).

(10) West Virginia 73, TCU 42: Jonathan Holton returned after serving a four-game suspension for a violation of team rules and had 14 points and seven rebounds as the host Mountainee­rs (20-5, 9-3 Big 12) trounced the Horned Frogs (11-14, 2-10).

Stanford 76, (11) Oregon 72:

Marcus Allen hit two free throws with 3 seconds left to help the Cardinal (12-11, 5-7 Pac-12) upset the visiting Ducks (20-6, 9-4).

Notre Dame 71, (13) Louisville 66: Demetrius Jackson matched his career high with 27 points and the Fighting Irish (18-7, 9-4 ACC) rallied from 11 points down in the second half to shock the visiting Cardinals (19-6, 8-4).

(14) Iowa State 85, (24) Texas 75: Monte Morris and Georges Niang scored 24 points apiece to lead the Cyclones (18-7, 7-5 Big 12) to a victory over the visiting Longhorns (16-9, 7-5).

LSU 76, (15) Texas A&M 71:

Ben Simmons had 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to carry the host Tigers (16-9, 9-3

SEC) past the Aggies (18-7, 7-5).

Texas Tech 84, (21) Baylor 66: Keenan Evans scored a career-high 21 points and the Red Raiders (15-9, 5-7 Big 12) surprised the host Bears (18-7, 7-5).

(22) Kentucky 89, South

Carolina 62: Tyler Ulis had career highs of 27 points and 12 assists and the visiting Wildcats (19-6, 9-3 SEC) blew out the Gamecocks (21-4, 8-4) after coach John Calipari was ejected less than 3 minutes into the game.

Northern Iowa 53, (25) Wichita State 50: Klint Carlson scored 12 points, Wyatt Lohaus had 11 and the Panthers (16-11, 8-6 Missouri Valley) edged Wichita State (18-7, 12-2) to end the Shockers’ nation-leading 43-game home winning streak.

BIG TEN

Michigan 61, (18) Purdue 56: Zak Irvin scored 22 points and the host Wolverines (19-7, 9-4) scored the game’s last 11 points to stun the Boilermake­rs (20-6, 8-5).

Purdue star A.J. Hammons was held to 10 points.

Ohio State 79, Rutgers 69:

Keita Bates-Diop tied a career-high with 24 points for the Buckeyes (16-10, 8-5) in a victory over the host Scarlet Knights (6-19, 0-12), who have lost 26 straight regular-season Big Ten games.

Nebraska 70, Penn State 54: Andrew White III had career highs with 35 points and 6 three-pointers to carry the Cornhusker­s (14-12, 6-7) to an easy victory over the visiting Nittany Lions (12-13, 3-9).

Illinois 58, Northweste­rn 56: Tre Demps and Scottie Lindsey scored 18 points each and the Fighting Illini (11-14, 3-9) outlasted the host Wildcats (17-9, 5-8).

BIG EAST

(1) Villanova 73, St. John’s

63: Daniel Ochefu poured in a career-high 25 points and the Wildcats (22-3, 12-1) knocked off the visiting Red Storm (719, 0-13).

(5) Xavier 74, Butler 57: J.P. Macura scored 13 points as the visiting Musketeers (22-3, 10-3) rolled past the Bulldogs (17-8, 6-7).

(20) Providence 75, Georgetown 72: Rodney Bullock had 23 points and 10 rebounds and the host Friars (19-7, 7-6) downed the Hoyas (14-12, 7-6).

HORIZON LEAGUE

Oakland 111, UW-Green Bay

93: Kahlil Felder scored 28 points as the Golden Grizzlies (18-9, 10-4) ran away from the visiting Phoenix (15-11, 7-6).

Illinois-Chicago 79, Northern Kentucky 77: Dikembe Dixson scored 21 points and the host Flames (5-19, 3-10) tipped the Norse (9-16, 5-9).

WOMEN

UW-Green Bay 71, Cleveland State 53: Kaili Lukan and Mehryn Kraker scored a team-high 12 points apiece and the host Phoenix (21-3, 11-1 Horizon League) turned back the Vikings (5-18, 2-11).
