Congress at fault on drugs
Here we go again, trying to divert readers’ attention from the big picture.
I agree with columnist Christian Schneider in principle — lack of a free market in America (“What drug prices need is a healthy dose of the free market,” Crossroads, Feb. 7).
But where I disagree with his argument is how he would have readers believe it is the fault of another big bad government agency. The Food and Drug Administration operates the way it does because of the power Congress has over it. Relying on Congress for funding, it must capitulate to the revolving door of lobbyists.
Schneider omitted our representatives’ willingness to allow access, aka, political donations. But the rest of the story should have included the fact that these same congressmen vote in these same corporate shills to head the agency. And the media still doesn’t know why we the people are supporting Donald Trump.
