Dutch skater Sven Kramer won the 5,000 meters for the seventh time at the world championships in Kolomna, Russia, narrowly beating compatriot Jorrit Bergsma.
Kramer, who is also the
Olympic champion in the 5,000, took the gold medal in 6 minutes 10.31 seconds, beating Bergsma by 0.35 of a second.
Their closest challenger, Sverre Lunde Pedersen of Norway, was 4.77 seconds off Kramer’s time. No other skater came within 8 seconds of the champion.
