“How do you grow? It’s getting out of your comfort zone. I think it is our job to make every player grow.

“That is the fun part about spring. There are a ton of opportunities.”

After practice the team toured Lambeau Field and the Packers Hall of Fame.

Two players who cherished the visit were fullback Alec Ingold, who grew up about 15 minutes north of the stadium, and tailback Dare Ogunbowale, who was rocking an Aaron Rodgers jersey.

Ingold got on the Lambeau Field grass long before Saturday, when he participated in a Pop Warner game during halftime of a Packers game.

“The community of Green Bay is so special to me,” said Ingold, a graduate of nearby Bay Port High School. “To wear the ‘W’ is the best of both worlds. You grow up wanting to be a Badger and wanting to be a Packer.”

Ogunbowale, from Milwaukee, enjoyed looking up at the 13 championship banners, including four from Super Bowl victories, inside the Don Hutson Center.

“A couple Steelers fans on the team, they like to say they have the most Super Bowls,” Ogunbowale said. “But you see the banners, all the championships, and that argument stops right away.” Watt, just a few yards off the line of scrimmage, made a leaping interception of a fastball thrown by Houston.

A few plays later, Watt stuffed tailback Taiwan Deal in the hole at the line of scrimmage.

Deal got a bit of revenge later, though not against Watt.

With the offense working to move the ball from its 1yard line, Deal broke through the line of scrimmage and got to the sideline. Safety Leo Musso, 5 feet 10 inches and 186 pounds, closed to make the tackle, but Deal used a stiff-arm to send Musso flying to the turf, much to the delight of the offensive players.

Injured center Dan Voltz (knee), who is being held out of spring ball, has dropped about 20 pounds to 280. According to UW officials, he is on track to participate in summer workouts in June. . . .

It is too early to know whether former linebacker Leon Jacobs can help the team at fullback or tailback this season. However, the 6-2, 235-pound senior showed power on two runs between the tackles Saturday. He is a load to bring down. . . .

Tailback Bradrick Shaw, who will be a redshirt freshman next season, is finally beginning to show the power and speed that caught the attention of UW’s staff. . . .

Former UW wide receiver Jeff Duckworth is back with the program as a graduate assistant.
