Port’s Beach gives oral commitment.

Madison – One of the concerns Wisconsin fans expressed after Paul Chryst took over the UW football program was whether Chryst and his staff could win a sufficient number of recruiting battles.

With UW well on its way to a second solid class under Chryst and his staff, those concerns have disappeared.

On Sunday, UW secured an oral commitment for its 2017 class from Port Washington offensive linemen Tyler Beach.

Beach, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle, announced his commitment on Twitter.

“My dream is finally a reality,” he wrote. “I would like to thank my parents for making me the man I have become today and I would like to thank all the coaches who have spent their time recruiting me. They have all given me a chance to do great things.

“With that announcement I would like to say I am committing to the University of Wisconsin-Madison!”

Beach is considered the top offensive line prospect in the state for 2017 and had scholarship offers from more than a dozen other schools, including Michigan, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Missouri, Oregon State, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

Beach is the eighth known commitment for UW’s 2017 class, including the fourth offensive lineman.

The other offensive linemen are Kayden Lyles, Middleton; Logan Bruss, Kimberly; and Alex Fenton, Menomonie.
