Knights honored: Nicolet will induct seven individual­s into its athletic hall of fame Friday. The group will be honored at halftime of the Knights’ game with Homestead. Prior to the contest, the group will be honored during a dinner at 5 p.m. at the high school. Tickets for the dinner are $15 and can be purchased in the Nicolet athletic office. Here is the 2016 class: James Allison (Class of ’63-football/ wrestling/track); William Jenkins (Class of ’94-basketball/ baseball/volleyball); Robert Jenkins (Class of ’94 basketball/ baseball/football); Ashley Green (Class of ’11-basketball/track/ cross country); Felicia Townes Sutton (Class of ’83-basketball/ track); Coach Dwight Davis (1985-2015 boys and girls Swim); Mel Wade – Distinguis­hed Service (1956-1990-recreation director/youth coach/administra­tor).

More honors: Waukesha South added former boys track coach Ed Dwyer to its coaches wall of fame last month. Dwyer led the Blackshirt­s to back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 1963 and ’64 and won nine Suburban Conference titles.

Committed: Catholic Memorial offensive lineman Bruce Mesa will play at St. Xavier University, a NAIA program in Chicago.

■ Jason Lauren of the National Scouting Report of Wisconsin reports two commitment­s from Oconomowoc. Senior shortstop/ pitcher Alec Esenther will play baseball at UW-Oshkosh and senior Morgan Sivak will play softball at UW-Eau Claire.

St. Thomas More hires soccer coach: Former St. Thomas More standout Jonathan Stahr is the school’s new boys soccer coach. Stahr, a letterman at UW-Milwaukee from 2013-’15, was an all-state player at Thomas More and is a 2012 graduate of the school. Dundun resigns: Herbie Dundun, the boys soccer coach at Brookfield East the past 12 seasons, resigned last month. He led the Spartans to the 2014 state title and a runner-up finish in 2006. He also was an assistant coach in 1995 when East was a state champion and ranked No. 1 in the nation. Dundun was inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Hall of Fame last year.

AROUND THE STATE
