A Port Washington senior housing community is being sold and will be expanded by its new owner.

Waukesha-based Capri Senior Communities has agreed to buy Harbor Campus, 333 W. Walters St., it was announced Thursday.

The purchase from Harbor Campus operator Gus Antonneau is expected to close this spring.

Capri has received initial city Plan Commission approval for the proposed expansion, the firm said in a statement.

Preliminary work includes installing new heating and air conditioning in the existing Harbor Village building that has apartments for seniors who live independently.

Capri will then demolish an outdated boiler building and garages to make way for the expansion.

The first phase includes a new 62-unit apartment building for seniors who live independently.

It will range from three to four stories and will be developed next to Harbor Village.

That phase also will include a grand campus entrance to be built off Walters St., finish upgrades and new furniture for common areas in Harbor Village, increased covered parking for residents, and better parking for families and visitors.

In the second phase, a new 28-unit apartment building for people who need memory care will be constructed just west of the existing Harbor Cove building.

The third phase includes possible singlefamily or senior housing on undeveloped property south of the existing campus buildings.

Capri, led by Jim Tarantino, operates 11 other senior communities in southeastern Wisconsin. They include the new Village Pointe Commons development in Grafton.
