Buffalo re-signs Alexander

LB rewarded for big sack season

-

Journeyman linebacker Lorenzo Alexander’s breakout season with the Buffalo Bills has paid off.

The 10-year veteran was rewarded for leading Buffalo with 121⁄2 sacks by agreeing to a two-year, $9 million contract to re-sign with the Bills on Saturday.

The team announced the agreement, and a person with direct knowledge of the contract revealed its details to the Associated Press. The person said $4.1 million of the contract is guaranteed. The Bills did not disclosed the contract’s length and value.

The Bills also addressed their need at right tackle by reaching an agreement to re-sign Jordan Mills, who started 16 games last season.

Bears add to secondary: The Chicago Bears have signed free-agent cornerbacks Prince Amukamara and Marcus Cooper and re-signed cornerback Johnthan Banks.

The signings came after the Bears signed safety Quintin Demps on Friday.

Amukamara, who has appeared in 69 games with 57 starts over six seasons, signed a oneyear contract. He played for the New York Giants from 2011-’15 and Jacksonville last season.

Cooper, who signed a three-year contract, has appeared in 54 games with 24 starts with Kansas City and Arizona. Cooper had four interceptions and a team-high 11 pass breakups with the Cardinals last season.

Banks, who signed a one-year deal, appeared in two games with Chicago last season. He also appeared in two games with Detroit and five with Tampa Bay.

Lions sign three: The Detroit Lions have signed tight end Darren Fells, cornerback D.J. Hayden and wide receiver Keshawn Martin.

The Lions announced the moves Saturday and didn’t disclose terms.

Fells spent the past three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He played in 14 games last season, starting seven, and he had 14 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown.

Hayden, a first-round draft pick in 2013 by the Oakland Raiders, played four seasons for them. He started only two games last season, when he had to deal with a hamstring injury.

Martin, a Michigan native who played at Michigan State, is entering his sixth NFL season. He has 62 receptions for 685 yards and five touchdowns in his career.

Safety Sorensen signed: The Kansas City Chiefs and safety Daniel Sorensen have agreed to a $16 million, four-year contract that keeps the restricted free agent off the market, a person with knowledge of the deal said.

The deal includes $8 million guaranteed and more than $2 million in incentives, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Sorensen must still pass a physical.

Broncos moves: A person with knowledge of the deals told the AP that the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with free-agent defensive tackles Domata Peko of the Bengals and Zach Kerr of the Colts.

Peko and Kerr agreed to two-year deals, said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the Broncos weren’t commenting on the agreements.

Peko started all 16 games in nine of his 11 seasons with the Bengals.

Kerr played in 36 games in three seasons with the Colts, starting four times in both 2015 and ’16.
