St. Pat’s celebratio­ns at area pubs

Green beer, corned beef, dancing, music

Whether it’s a green beer or a Guinness, many will raise a glass on St. Patrick’s Day — and with good reason.

“We get to come early, stay late and have a good time all day long,” said Shad Miller, director of operations for Mo’s Restaurant­s.

If you’re looking to join in the fun, head to one of these local pubs.

Mo’s Irish Pub Milwaukee

Mo’s kicks off its St. Patrick’s Day celebratio­n at 6 a.m. Father Tim will bless the pub before its day of merriment. Irish breakfast options, including corned beef hash, a breakfast burrito, French toast with Bailey’s batter and a full Irish breakfast will top off the menu. Trinity Irish Dancers will perform at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Both the tap room and the main pub will feature live music: Frogwater takes the stage in the tap room from 3:45 to 7 p.m., with acoustic act Eric Darnell from 7 p.m. to midnight. In the main pub area, Claire Kelly performs from 2 to 6 p.m.; Killarney Blarney plays from 6:30 to 9 p.m.; and Decibel 6 plays from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Mo’s Irish Pub Wauwatosa

Much like its Milwaukee counterpar­t, Mo’s in Wauwatosa will feature a full Irish breakfast. The Tosa location will open at 8 a.m. Three Irish bands will perform throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m. Headlining act Cherry Pie will play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Catch the Trinity Irish Dancers at 4 p.m.

The intersecti­on of E. Juneau Ave. and N. Edison St. turns into your St. Patrick’s Day headquarte­rs as Trinity Three Irish Pub and The Harp combine forces with an outdoor tent offering the best in entertainm­ent. The celebratio­n starts at 6 a.m., with the tent opening at 11 a.m. The event features multiple stages in both bars and outside, including acts like Another Pint, Leahy’s Luck and Trinity Irish Dancers. The tent, which usually closes around 11 p.m., will have television­s as well.

County Clare Irish Inn & Pub

1234 N. Astor St. (414) 272-5273 countyclar­e-inn.com A celebratio­n for hotel guests, including an Irish breakfast buffet, rolls from 6 to 10:30 a.m. Tickets are available at County Clare for $14. Other festivitie­s include a blessing of the Shamrock at 10 a.m. and general lunch service starting at 11 a.m. Food service lasts throughout the celebratio­n, including a late-night menu that will be served until 1 a.m. For entertainm­ent, County Clare will have a tent again with everything from traditiona­l Irish ballads and Irish dance to Highland bagpipes from 10 a.m. until the last performanc­e kicks off at 8 p.m. From there, the entertainm­ent moves inside with Frogwater performing at 10 p.m.

O’Lydia Bar and Grill

338 S. 1st St. (414) 271-7546 olydias.com Swing by O’Lydia’s for a compliment­ary breakfast of sweet rolls, mini-muffins and bagels from 6 to 9 a.m. After that, you’ll find Irish fare such as Reubens and Irish stew on the menu. Frogwater will play from 12:30 to 3 p.m., with bagpipers and Irish dancers coming in mid-afternoon. WLUM-FM (102.1) joins the party from 4 to 6 p.m., with the band McTavish taking over from 6 to 10 p.m.

Flannery’s Bar & Restaurant

Both kick off at 6 p.m. at Flannery’s. The bar and restaurant opens at 10 a.m. and will have a special menu including corned beef and cabbage, beef brisket with horseradis­h sauce and homemade Irish stew. 8 p.m. is a good time to swing by, as the whole place will do a Tullymore toast at that time.
