You can’t tell the players without a scorecard. But with the still-rebuilding Milwaukee Brewers, even with a scorecard, this year you’ll likely need some more advance scouting. This weekend you can: Before Monday’s opening day, the Brewers play exhibition games at 7:10 p.m. Friday and 1:10 p.m. Saturday at Miller Park against the Chicago White Sox. Tickets are $10, $15 for field infield box seats. Bonus: Ticket-holders will get $10 food and beverage vouchers when they enter the ballpark. Info: brewers.com

“How Posters Work,” an exhibit from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonia­n Design Museum, opens Friday at the Milwaukee Art Museum, 700 N. Art Museum Drive. The exhibit, which runs through June 25, features more than 80 rarely shown posters incorporat­ing the medium’s masters at design and storytelli­ng. Works by nationally recognized Wisconsin graphic designers will complement the show. Admission to the art museum is $17; $15 for students and seniors 65 and older; and free for museum members and kids 12 and younger. Hours Friday through Sunday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This weekend, bring a Sendik’s “Red Bag” on Saturday and Sunday to get one free admission. Info: mam.org

“Stabat Mater,” this year’s Grand Music for a Grand Space concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, is set for 8 p.m. Friday at the cathedral, 812 N. Jackson St. The concert, a musical reflection on the Sorrowful Mother, features performanc­es by the cathedral’s choir and women’s choir, its handbell ensemble and guest organist Crawford Wiley, along with readings and reflection­s compiled by Silas Henderson. Mutt Strut 2017, a dogfriendl­y fundraiser including a party and a 2mile walk, steps into Rainbow Park, 700 S .119 th St ., West Allis, Saturday morning. The event is hosted by JR’s Pups N Stuff, a local nonprofit animal rescue outfit. Only one dog per walker, please.
