Plant sales benefit garden club causes
In the market for some new plants to spruce up your landscaping during the coming season?
Here are some plant sales hosted by area garden clubs. Events are free unless otherwise noted.
Fox Point Garden Club’s 45th Annual May Market Plant Sale: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 13. At the Longacre Pavilion at the corner of Longacre and Bell Roads in Fox Point. Perennials, wildflowers and homemade baked goods. For more information see foxpointgardenclub.com or call (414) 352-7686.
Burlington Area Garden Club: Annual sale of perennials, grasses and shrubs; 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 20. On Congress St. east of Milwaukee Ave. (Hwy 36) in Burlington. Proceeds provide scholarships to college/university students in horticulture and related fields and provide garden grants to local schools and organizations.

Ozaukee Master Gardeners: Annual Heirlooms & Herbs Plant Sale: 9 a.m. to noon May 20. At Concordia University Fieldhouse, 12800 N. Lake Shore Drive, Mequon. There will be rare herbs, heirloom tomatoes, vegetable plants and natives. There will also be an art event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. hosted by the League of Milwaukee Artists. Profits from the plant sale will fund various programs sponsored by the Ozaukee Master Gardeners. For more information see ozaukeemastergardeners.org.
Spring City Garden Club Perennial Plant Sale: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 3. At E.B. Shurts Environmental Center, 810 W. College Ave., Waukesha. Sale will include herbs, bakery, a shabby chic boutique, hand-crafted yard art and rain barrels. Proceeds support the environmental center and other community organizations. Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use: Annual Spring Sale & Workshop, 9 a.m to 1 p.m. April 29. At Retzer Nature Center, S14-W28167 Madison St., Waukesha. Attendees can pick up their items purchased during the pre-order as well as purchase limited quantities of other items that day. Plants can be pre-ordered at waukeshacounty.gov/springsale. There will also be free workshops on home composting, native plant landscaping, rain gardens and rain barrels, and a native wildflower walk. For more information, see the website.
