Man charged with soliciting hits on 3 witnesses

He was convicted of two homicides

- MICHELLE LIU

A Milwaukee man found guilty in April of killing two people and trying to kill two more is now accused of trying to solicit the deaths of three others while in jail — including the brother of one of his victims.

Christopher M. Anderson, 26, has been charged with three felony counts of solicitation of first-degree homicide, in what appears to have been attempted retaliation against those who first testified against him, according to a criminal complaint.

The scheme never went far enough for the three to have been harmed.

The new charges show a deep entanglement with the gang-related violence that first landed Anderson behind bars. The complaint states that Anderson passed a note listing three individuals and their addresses to another prisoner, intending for the note to reach fellow gang members.

A jury had previously found Anderson guilty of eight felony counts, including two homicides, two counts of being a felon with a gun, armed robbery and a kidnapping linked to a victim Anderson soaked with gasoline and lit on fire before shooting at him as the victim dove out of a window in flames.

Anderson is also connected to other high-profile shootings, according to prosecutors: the killing of a man while he drove in the funeral procession for his uncle, also a homicide victim; and a three-car, five-gun chase and shootout on I-43 downtown in December 2015.

According to the criminal complaint:

On April 24, a correctional officer at the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility observed an inmate, D.G., enter a classroom in the jail to take a class.

The officer observed Anderson, standing outside the room, pass a note to D.G. The correctional officer seized the note, which said something akin to: “I’m getting a life.” The officer did not find it important and threw it away.

After the class, the officer ob- served Anderson shaking D.G.’s hand as the inmate exited the class. The officer then seized a second note that had passed between the two inmates from D.G.

The note read: “What it do cuz? I might get life & 40 but I ain’t tripping cuz I’mma put in that appeal. I want them rat (expletives) dead on Tay grave.”

Police also state two of the witnesses testified against Anderson in the April trial and that Anderson considers the third witness to have cooperated with police, as well.

The note was signed “BOS Boy Gunz” — indicating Anderson’s status as a high-ranking member of the Brothers of the Struggle gang (BOS) and his street name (Gunz).

Anderson is scheduled to be sentenced for the eight prior felonies June 29.
