Good City Brewing shows off its rooftop patio
New space to open Saturday
Thursday’s hammering, painting and buzz saws aside, the rooftop patio at Good City Brewing, 2108 N. Farwell Ave., will be open for business Saturday on Milwaukee’s east side.
The rooftop offers seating for 100. There are eight taps and chairs for seating at the bar.
Entry to the rooftop patio is available through the taproom.
Daniel Katt, a partner in the business with David Dupee and head brewer Andy Jones, said the rooftop was meant to evoke a traditional beer garden even with its bird’s eye view.
Downstairs, Good City Hall event space also is under construction. It is expected to be completed by Saturday but perhaps not quite open to the public that soon, Katt said.
Good City Hall, with garage doors that open to the outside and seating for 150, will be available for overflow from the original taproom and include a separate bar, Dupee said. The room will be used for programming events such as live music and beer dinners.
It will also be open for private event space such as rehearsal dinners and weddings. Katt said. The first wedding for Good City Hall is scheduled for August.
The space also boasts a second prep kitchen — one that is about three times the size of the taproom kitchen.
“This extra kitchen space will allow us to change it up, bring new things in,” said chef Guy Davies. The banquet hall menu includes platters such as Egyptian Dukkah, deviled eggs and beef cheek as an entrée. A Friday fish fry is on the menu for Good City Hall.
“It’s Wisconsin. It’s Milwaukee. We’re a brewery,” Davies said about the fish fry.
Good City Hall will include a second set of restrooms and some additional office space.
Good City recently signed with distributors Beechwood Sales & Service and is available in retail locations in Milwaukee, Madison and south to the state line.
The brewhouse expansion allows for a canning line, four new fermenters and the chance to increase from 2,500 barrels a year to 5,000 barrels a year, Dupee said.
The brewhouse expansion should be complete in August.
