Milwaukee ranked as one of America’s ‘wellthiest’ cities

- CHELSEY LEWIS

We may love our beer and cheese in Milwaukee, but that hasn’t stopped us from earning a ranking of one of the “wellthiest” cities in America from Women’s Health magazine.

The magazine teamed up with Yelp to determine the rankings, looking at how many healthy-lifestyle businesses a city had in relation to its population, plus how often people searched for, used and rated those businesses highly.

The only other Midwestern city to make the list was Sioux Falls, S.D. Other “wellthy” cities included Austin, Texas; Boulder, Colo.; and Phoenix, where everyone obviously exercises inside since not even planes can be prompted to move in such hellish temperatures.

Adventures in Madison

While Milwaukee is living the “wellthy” life, Madison is living on the edge.

The state capital was ranked the third most adventurous city in the country by Men’s Health magazine.

The magazine’s Metrogrades team considered factors such as the percentage of people participating in sports in the past 12 months, percentage of people who engage in vigorous activity for five or more days a week and ratio of parkland to city size.

“Several lakes, nearby parks, and a strong sense of adventure make Madison a Metrogrades hot spot,” the article states.

Anchorage, Alaska, was ranked the country’s most adventurous city, and Minneapolis was fourth on the list. About This Feature
