Shorewood teen prevails on ‘Boy Band,’ gets record deal with In Real Life group
From the Milwaukee stage to a major record deal, Brady Tutton, from Shorewood, was one of the winners on ABC’s reality show “Boy Band” Thursday night.
“I’m just so thankful for all these guys who have made it so much fun,” Tutton said during the live season finale. He thanked his mentor on the show, producer Timbaland, and his parents “for putting up with me.”
One of the youngest of 30 competitors, Tutton, 15, was a frontrunner from the start; his placement in the group, dubbed In Real Life, was announced first Thursday.
Overcoming a stutter at a young age through singing, Tutton comes from a family of entertainers. His older brother Ryan was part of a touring production of the Broadway musical “Oliver!,” and his older sister Casey has a recurring part on “Chicago Med.”
Tutton, a classically trained opera singer, is an actor too, with a recurring role on the sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat.” Tutton also appeared with his siblings, and his mother Coleen, in a Skylight Music Theatre production of “The Sound of Music” in 2012.
Chance Perez, Drew Ramos, Sergio Calderon and Michael Connor secured the other four spots in In Real Life. The group won a recording contract with Hollywood Records, and premiered its debut single, “Eyes Closed,” on the finale.
