Clarke to work for pro-Trump PAC.

Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. will be taking a job with the primary super PAC supporting President Donald Trump. America First Action

announced that Clarke will serve as a spokesman and senior adviser for the group. Corey

Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, took a similar job with the super PAC last month.

In its news release, America First Action emphasized that Clarke’s work for the super PAC represents just “one of his new endeavors.” Clarke abruptly resigned his $132,290-per-year job last week.

Clarke, sometimes dubbed “America’s sheriff,” was scheduled to talk about his future during conservative commentator Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Tuesday night. The former fourth-term sheriff has become a regular on the show over the past year.

“I will help make sure we elect the candidates who will do what they promise in support of President Trump’s agenda,” Clarke said in a

statement. “Just as important, I will see to it that the will of the American people is not derailed by the left or the self-serving Washington establishment.” Glenn Thrush of The New York Times firstreported the move on Tuesday.

Politico reported incorrectly last week that Clarke would take a job in Trump’s administration, something sources close to the former sheriff strongly disputed.

Earlier this year, Clarke was passed over for a job in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Clarke, a frequent surrogate for Trump during his successful 2016 campaign, also interviewed last year for a job in Trump’s cabinet.
