Marquette CFO is alumnus
Pogodzinski comes from manufacturing
Marquette University has hired an alumnus from the manufacturing sector, Joel Pogodzinski, as the Jesuit school’s chief financial officer.
Pogodzinski most recently served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Broan-NuTone LLC in Hartford, which develops, manufactures and distributes residential ventilation products for homeowners in North America.
A 1994 graduate of the Marquette College of Business Administration, Pogodzinski will begin his new role Sept. 18.
In the past, universities have leaned toward administrators who come up through the ranks of academia. But the path is widening, as universities seek different perspectives and skill sets gleaned from working in the private sector.
Pogodzinski succeeds Chuck Lamb, who retired at the end of the 2016-’17 academic year after working at Marquette for nearly 40 years in various administrative roles.
“To have someone at this pivotal moment in Marquette’s history who has such keen financial acumen and leadership skills, as well as experience in partnering with leadership teams on strategic planning, is a significant step forward for the university,” Dave Lawlor, Marquette’s executive vice president for operations, said in announcing the hiring Thursday.
Said Pogodzinski, “This is a special opportunity to work with all of Marquette’s stakeholders to contribute to the success of the strategic plan, Beyond Boundaries.”
