Hurricane Irma disrupting sporting events

Hurricane Irma is heading toward Florida. The National Hurricane Center’s forecast path has it hitting the southern part of the state and then moving through the middle.

The storm has and will drasticall­y affect sporting events scheduled for the weekend. Here’s what is known:

NFL

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins (postponed until Nov. 19): The Dolphins have already left Miami for California and will remain there for next week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jacksonvil­le Jaguars at Houston Texans (1 p.m. Sunday): The Jaguars will remain in Houston after the game and decide their next move on Monday.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Northern Colorado at No. 24 Florida (canceled).

No. 17 Miami at Arkansas State (canceled).

Louisiana-Monroe at No. 9 Florida State (canceled).

No. 20 South Florida vs. Connecticu­t (postponed): Since this is an American Athletic Conference game, it could be reschedule­d.

Memphis at Central Florida (canceled).

Alcorn State vs. Florida Internatio­nal (Friday at Birmingham): Game was moved from Miami.

Florida Atlantic at No. 11 Wisconsin (11 a.m. Saturday): FAU arrived in Madison on Friday, ahead of the potential landfall of Irma. The schools have discussed contingenc­ies if Florida Atlantic can’t return to its Boca Raton campus because of the storm, including extra nights in hotel rooms and the use of the Badgers’ athletic and training facilities. BASEBALL

Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves (Friday-Sunday): The Braves announced Thursday they would give free tickets to Florida residents to any game in the series.

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays (Monday-Wednesday): Moved to the Mets’ Citi Field in New York, reports WTSP in Tampa.

The Florida State League has canceled its championsh­ip series scheduled for this weekend.
