NASCAR Xfinity: Brad Keselowski ran down Kyle Busch with 16 laps to go and drove away to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond Raceway.

Keselowski’s pass came in heavy lapped traffic and marked the third time he’d used a superior car to catch Busch on a long run. Busch had a better shortrun machine and had to be wishing for a late caution to give him one last chance for his 92nd career victory in the series.

The final green-flag run lasted 89 laps, giving Keselowski his 36th career series victory and fourth in 17 starts at Richmond.

“He’s a great racer and when you can race with him you know you’re having a good day, especially in this series,” Keselowski said.

Busch led five times for 182 laps, and Keselowski led four times, but for just 34 laps.

It was the final series race that Cup veterans are allowed to participate in this season.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., the race winner in each of his last three Xfinity starts at Richmond, finished ninth. GOLF

Champions: Kevin Sutherland and Glen Day shot 7-under 65 on Friday to share the first-round lead in the Japan Airlines Championship, the first PGA Tour Champions event in Japan.

Winless on the 50-and-over tour, Sutherland has had at least a share of the first-round lead in three of his last four events.

Sutherland and Day each closed with a bogey. Sutherland three-putted the par-4 ninth at Narita Golf Club, and Day, also winless on the senior tour, dropped a stroke on the par-4 18th.

LPGA: Lydia Ko shot an 8-under-par 64 on Friday to join Lexi Thompson atop the Women in Tech Championship leader board with one round left at Brickyard Crossing.

The 20-year-old Ko had five straight birdies in the middle of her final nine before bogeying the par-4 eighth. Thompson followed her first-round 63 with a 66, scrambling for par on the final two holes.

Candie Kung was a stroke back after a 64.
