Platteville sinks Stout to remain unbeaten
Two of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference heavyweights had a pretty good fight Saturday.
Jack Eddy tossed a 37yard touchdown pass to Mark Johnson with 7 minutes 18 seconds left, and host UW-Platteville rallied to top UW-Stout, 34-27.
The Pioneers (4-0, 1-0 WIAC) were ranked 12th by D3football.com while the Blue Devils (2-1, 0-1) were No. 22.
Stout led, 24-14, late in the first half after Jed Schlegel returned a blocked punt 47 yards for a touchdown.
Eddy threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns.
UW-Oshkosh 37, UW-Whitewater 20: Brett Kasper threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns to lead the host Titans past the Warhawks.
Oshkosh (3-0, 1-0 WIAC) entered the game ranked third by D3football.com and Kasper made sure it wouldn’t slip in the ratings. He tossed a 96-yard touchdown pass to Sam Mentkowski with 1:41 left in the first quarter. It was the longest completed pass in Oshkosh history.
The Warhawks (1-3, 0-1) closed to 23-20 with 10:49 to go after a 1-yard run by Tony Gumina. But Kasper answered with a pair to TD passes down the stretch to put the Warhawks away.
UW-River Falls 30, UW-Eau Claire 7: Michael Diggins ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns and caught a scoring strike as the visiting Falcons (3-1, 1-0 WIAC) throttled the Blugolds (1-3, 0-1).
Carthage 55, Carroll 20: The host Red Men (4-1, 2-1 CCIW) scored 34 points in the first quarter to dispatch the Pioneers (1-3, 1-1) and retain the Old Musket.
St. Norbert 61, Knox 17: Jack Becker tossed four touchdown passes as the host Green Knights (2-2) riddled the Prairie Fire (3-1).
Aurora 20, Wisconsin Lutheran 14: Connor Olson rushed for 161 yards and a pair of TDs and the Spartans (2-2, 1-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) held off the visiting Warriors (0-4, 0-1).
Ripon 55, Grinnell 0: Julian Patton rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns and the host Red Hawks (1-3, 1-0 Midwest Conference) drubbed the Pioneers (1-3, 0-1).
Lakeland 60, Concordia (Wis.) 14: Michael Whitley threw for four touchdowns and ran for another and the visiting Muskies (2-2, 1-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) overpowered the Falcons (1-3, 0-1).
Monmouth 34, Lawrence 0: DeAndre Wright scampered 58 yards for a TD on the first handoff of the game and the host Fighting Scots (3-1) decked the Vikings (1-3).
