Veterans eligible for free Domes, golf course fees

The Milwaukee County Parks Department is offering military veterans and active service members free greens fees at four golf courses and free admission to the Mitchell Park Domes on Veterans Day.

On Saturday, free greens fees will be offered at Currie Park, Grant Park, Lincoln Park and Whitnall Park golf courses. Veterans and service members need to show their military ID to the golf starter to play 9 or 18 holes.

Tee-time reservations are recommended by calling (414) 475-6222. Golf cart rentals will be available for less than $10 but are not required to receive the free greens fee offer.

For free admission to the Domes, a military ID must be presented at the ticket booth Saturday.

Purple Heart recipients living in Wisconsin can apply for a Purple Heart Pass, which provides free entry to many attractions, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Public Museum, Milwaukee County Zoo, Discovery World, Harley-Davidson Museum, Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and Boerner Botanical Gardens.

The Purple Heart Pass program was started in 2013 by Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. Almost 600 Purple Heart Passes have been issued.
