‘Man with a Plan’ a midseason call-up
Question: What happened to “Man with a Plan?” It was the funniest show on TV last year.
Answer: CBS did not have the comedy starring Matt LeBlanc in the network’s initial plans for the fall, but a second season was ordered for use later in 2017-’18, or when another series on the network faltered. “Me, Myself & I” proved faltering, and CBS has yanked it from the Monday lineup, adding a “Big Bang Theory” rerun instead on Nov. 6. “Man with a Plan” began its second season Monday night. CBS says “Me, Myself & I” will return at an unspecified later date.
Q: Is “Shades of Blue” with Jennifer Lopez coming back? It was one of my favorites.
A: NBC has ordered a third season of the police drama, but at this writing has not set the date for its return. The first season began in January 2016 and the second in March 2017.
Q: What happened to Aisha Tyler on “The Talk”?
A: She announced in June that she was ending regular appearances on CBS’s daytime chat fest, though she did say she would appear occasionally as a guest. EW.com noted her many other commitments: series regular on “Criminal Minds,” host of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, voice actor on “Archer” and now a director, of the film “Axis.”
Q: Please tell me what happened to the woman named Quinn who was on “NCIS” this past season. I see she is no longer on the program.
A: Jennifer Esposito, who played Alex Quinn on the long-running drama, departed after a single season. This is unlike her acrimonious split with “Blue Bloods” in 2012, when her battle with celiac disease reportedly led to her seeking a reduced work schedule and the show dropping her because of it. Esposito told Deadline.com that working “NCIS” was a “great experience” but tweeted she was “not meant to be there long.”
