BOYS BASKETBALL

Evan Albrecht, West Bend West: The 5-foot-10 senior guard led the Spartans to North Shore Conference victories over league-leader Cedarburg on Wednesday and Hartford on Friday. He averaged 16.5 points per game in those contests, going for 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 64-63 victory over Cedarburg that marked the Bulldogs' first loss in league play in almost two years.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lauren Stefanczyk, Palmyra-Eagle: The senior guard/forward scored a seasonhigh 27 points in the Panthers’ 55-53 victory over Delavan-Darien on Thursday. For the season Stefanczyk is averaging a team-high 16 points plus 3.8 rebounds per game for the Panthers. Tuesday she had 13 points in a 63-43 victory over Madison Abundant Life/St. Ambrose that gave the team the outright Trailways South title. Stefanczyk is averaging 15.4 points in league play.

GYMNASTICS

Lexi Woida, Arrowhead: The junior took home the all-around title at the Kenosha Invite Feb. 3 at Kenosha Tremper. She posted a score of 37.150 to win the title by three-tenths of a point. Her day included a first-place finish in the vault (9.3) and fourth-place finishes in the bars (9.375), balance beam (9.325) and floor exercise (9.150). Her effort led Arrowhead to a second-place finish in the team race with a total of 141.2000.

HOCKEY

Patrick Kelly, University School: In the last two weeks, the sophomore goalie has helped the Wildcats win the Pines Classic in Eagle River and defeat Classic 8 rivals Marquette and KMMO. Friday he recorded his seventh shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Onalaska. He made 23 saves in that matchup. At the Pines Classic Jan. 26-27, Kelly was the goalie of record in a 5-0 victory over Hayward in the semifinals and then made 18 saves in a 4-2 win over Northland Pines in the championsh­ip game. Kelly’s entered play Saturday with a 12-0 record, a .955 save percentage and a 0.74 goals-against average.

BOYS SWIMMING AND DIVING

Sam Kult, Brookfield: The Barracudas senior won the Greater 8 Conference title in the 100-yard breaststro­ke in 58.63 seconds to break the conference record of 58.99 set last season by his former teammate, Ben Attenberge­r. Kult, who also placed third in the 100 butterfly and was part of 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays that took second and third, respective­ly, entered Saturday ranked third in Division 1 in the state, according to the Wisconsin Interschol­astic Swim Coaches Associatio­n top times list.

WRESTLING

John Deates, Kenosha Bradford: The junior came up big at the Southeast Conference Tournament Feb. 3, winning his semifinal over Kenosha Tremper’s Tyler Griffin and his final over Oak Creek’s Nolan Parr by pin to help the Red Devils win the league’s tournament title. The victory shot Deates up the No. 3 ranking at 170 pounds by wiwrestlin­g.com.
