Foxconn to hold info session for construction firms
Companies interested in participating in the construction of Foxconn Technology Group’s display panel manufacturing campus in Racine County can learn about the bidding process and other aspects of the project at an event in Sturtevant on Tuesday.
Representatives from M+W|Gilbane, the professional construction manager for Foxconn, will answer questions about becoming a vendor, subcontractor, supplier or professional service provider. The session will run from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Fountain Hall, 8505 Durand Ave. It is free, but advance registration is required.
Foxconn is expected to spend more than $5 billion over four years on construction of its 1,000-acre campus in Mount Pleasant.
The project will create about 10,000 direct construction jobs, proponents have said.
Tuesday’s meeting is intended to help potential subcontractors, suppliers and other companies understand the project as a whole and the procurement process for construction-related work.
Companies seeking to bid are asked to register with M+W|Gilbane to receive automatic bid alerts and notifications on upcoming pre-bid/matchmaking sessions.
A link to the registration website can be found on the Wisconn Valley Science & Technology Park website at
wisconnvalley.wi.gov.
Companies should attend one of the pre-bid/matchmaking sessions and are
urged to sign up for the Wisconn Valley News e-newsletter for information updates.
The Sturtevant event is being hosted by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., Racine County, the Racine County Economic Development Corp. and M+W|Gilbane.
It is the first of 12 informational sessions to be held across the state. The next sessions will be on Wednesday in Platteville and on April 6 in Kimberly. Details are available on the Wisconn Valley site.
Seven of the sessions, including events in Milwaukee, Madison and Janesville, have not yet been scheduled.
