LINDI ORTEGA
Style: Americana with long external and internal horizons.
Backstory: With Mexican-Irish heritage and a Toronto birthplace, Lindi Ortega was multicultural from the get-go, so her transformation into an eccentrically honest, Catholic country-andWestern artiste was not too surprising. After flitting through indie circles during the 2000s, she moved to Nashville and focused more during the 2010s.
Why you should go: Since 2011’s “Little Red Boots,” Ortega has drawn comparisons to Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton while generating her own atmospheric C&W world. Her latest LP, 2018’s “Liberty,” conceptually moves from heartbreak to healing while channeling Patsy Cline’s darker side through Nancy Sinatra’s sass. Onstage, Ortega should be both fun and frightening.
Opener: Hugh Masterson, a talented Wisconsin-raised, Nashville-based singer-songwriter.
Time and place: 8 p.m. Monday, Shank Hall, 1434 N. Farwell Ave.
Price: $15 at the box office, (866) 4683401 and shankhall.com.
