ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
ON THE TRACK
Jake Biewer, Arrowhead: The Warhawks senior left his mark on the Classic 8 relays Monday with three victories. Two came in the hurdle events as he posted times that almost assure him a spot on the state honor roll next week. His 110 time of 14.72 seconds would ranked No. 2 in Division 1 this week and his 300 intermediate time of 39.71 would rank first. He also took the title in the long jump with a mark of 21 feet 11⁄4 inches.
Honorable mention
Clayton Cheney, University School: The Wildcats senior put himself in position to join the Division 2 state honor roll in the 3,200 by posting a winning time of 10:24.21 at the Butch Richardson Meet on Tuesday at University School. That time would have ranked 15th in the division this week. He also took the 1,600 title in 4:48.38.
Elijah Johnson, Milwaukee Washington: The junior sprinter opened the outdoor season by winning the 100 in 11.13 at Kenosha Bradford's Red Devil Invite, the third-fastest Division 1 time in the state. He also took third in the 200 (22.39) and was part of the Purgolders’ second-place 400 relay (44.56).
Cullen Ketterhagen, Wilmot: The Panthers junior swept the high and intermediate hurdles in 16:24 and 41.79 at the Southern Lakes relays Monday. IN THE FIELD Adler Peterson, Wisconsin Lutheran: The Vikings senior not only set a meet record at Lutheran’s Viking Invitational on Monday, he established what would have been the No. 1 throw in the discus on the latest state honor roll with a mark of 161 feet 6 inches. He also won the shot put (51-2), an event he ranks fourth in the Division 1 with a throw of 54-7.
Honorable mention C.J. Goetz, Catholic Memorial: The Wisconsin football recruit posted the area’s best mark in the shot put with a throw of 55-1 at the Classic 8 relays Monday.
Ty Olejnik, Sussex Hamilton: The senior set a meet record of 22-7 in the long jump at the Viking Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran on Monday. The mark is a season best for Olejnik and would rank fifth on this week’s Division 1 honor roll. Olejnik also did the job on the track, winning the 100 in 10.96, onehundreth of a second off the meet record, and taking the 200 title in 22.11.
