The national honors continue to come in for Whitefish Bay’s boys soccer team.

In December, United Soccer Coaches announced Blue Dukes senior Matthew Comiskey as its national player of the year. The organization, formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of American, also bestowed All American status on senior goalkeeper Elian Haddock and all-region distinction on senior defender Shawn Azcueta and senior forward Jackson Dryden.

Now it’s coach Robby Dubinski’s turn.

Bay’s second-year coach was named the national boys soccer coach of the year by the National High School Coaches Association last week.

Dubinski’s Whitefish Bay team finished 25-0, won its third straight state championship and rose to the No. 2 ranking in the USA Today/United Soccer national rankings.

Dubinski, who won the Journal Sentinel's coach of the year award, also coaches Bay's girls team.

He is the first Wisconsin coach to receive the award, which dates back to 2000.

Comisky commits: Last month Comisky announced his plan to play for the University of Wisconsin soccer program.

He finished the year with 46 goals and 30 assists. He recorded at least one goal or assist in every game and played big in the team’s biggest moments.

He finished with two goals and an assist in two victories at the Goal 4 the Goal Classic in Quincy, Ill., in late September.

In a showdown with Marquette at the end of the regular season, Comiskey had three goals in a 3-0 victory.

At state, he scored eight points in two games. In the state final, his two goals in the first 7 minutes set the tone for a 6-1 victory over Oregon.
