RUNNERS TO WATCH
Drew Bosley, sr., Homestead: The three-time defending North Shore champion didn’t lose a race on the way to winning the Division 1 state title last season, a first for the area since 2009.
Henry Chapman, sr., East Troy: Chapman ran for Arrowhead his first three seasons, making state appearances the past two years and taking 14th last year in Division 1. He transferred to East Troy in the spring and reached state in the 1,600 and 3,200. He has a chance to be one of the top runners in Division 2.
Jared Denk, sr., Wisconsin Lutheran: A sectional champion in Division 2, Denk took 23rd in his third state appearance making him the area’s No. 2 returner in the division.
Elijah DeVries, sr., Arrowhead: The defending Classic 8 champion won three events last season but missed qualifying for state. He did, however, helped the Warhawks team qualify as a freshman and sophomore.
Nathan Fox, sr., East Troy: Fox won the
Palmyra-Eagle before qualifying and for Ladish state invitationals for the second returner straight in Division year. He 2 by is the virtue area’s of his top 20th-place finish.
Nicholas Holmes, jr., Nicolet: The twotime state qualifier had his best finish last season at Whitefish Bay’s Vanden Avond Invitational. He'd later take third at the sectional before a 26th-place showing at state in Division 1.
Alex Mielke, sr., Lake Country Lutheran: A two-time state qualifier, Mielke has finished among the top 20 each time, taking 15th as a sophomore and 13th as a junior.
Gabriel Ramirez, sr., Milwaukee Reagan: The defending City Conference champion also posted top-10 finishes at the Shorewood Invitational and South Milwaukee Sectional before making his first state meet appearance. He took 99th in Division 1.
Ben Schnoor, jr., Germantown: At one point last season, he two-time state qualifier won three meets in the span of four events. The big one was the Greater Metro championship. He went on to take sixth in Division 1 at state.
Alexander Vance, jr., Oconomowoc: Vance posted five top-10 finishes last season that included a fourth-place showing at the Classic 8 Conference meet. He took 32nd in Division 1 his first state appearance.
