No. 2 Clemson 48, Furman 7: CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for three touchdowns and Clemson scored on all five of his drives as the Tigers opened their season with a rout. Even with Lawrence’s impressive debut, going 9 for 15 for 137 yards and no interceptions, senior starter Kelly Bryant also shined. He went 10 for 16 for 127 yards and a touchdown and ran five times for 44 yards and another score.

Virginia 42, Richmond 13: CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Bryce Perkins ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 185 yards and two more scores for Virginia. Perkins overcame a 72-yard interception return for a touchdown on the Cavaliers’ first offensive series with his legs first. He ran 36 yards for a touchdown to end the next series and then 22 yards for a score on the third series, giving a crowd that waited through a 40-minute delay for threatening weather in the area a reason to cheer.

Pittsburgh 33, Albany 7: PITTSBURGH – Kenny Pickett threw for two touchdowns and ran for another for Pittsburgh.He hit Rafael Araujo-Lopes twice for scores in the second quarter, the first on a 3-yard lob and another on a 42-yard catch-and-run in which Araujo-Lopes did most of the work.

NC State 24, James Madison 13: RALEIGH, N.C. – Jakobi Meyers had career highs of 14 catches for 161 yards – including two big third-down grabs on the clinching late drive – to help North Carolina State win. Reggie Gallaspy II added a 6-yard touchdown run with 65 seconds left to seal this one for the Wolfpack.

Boston College 55, Massachuestts 21: BOSTON – Anthony Brown threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns while playing just the opening half in his return from a season-ending knee injury for the Eagles.

Georgia Tech 41, Alcorn State 0: ATLANTA – KirVonte Benson ran for two touchdowns as 10 different players carried the ball as the Yellow Jackets rushed for 439 yard in a win. It was Tech’s first shutout in nearly five years.
