CONFERENCE IN PEWAUKEE TO ADDRESS POPULATION DECLINE
A conference titled “S.O.S. for Our Flying Bug Eaters: Addressing Declines in Chimney Swifts, Nighthawks, Bats and other Aerial Insectivores” will be held Thursday through Saturday in Pewaukee.
The event is organized by the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative and Bird City Wisconsin.
The agenda includes sessions on recent research results on aerial insectivores and projects that can be used to help the species. Evening field trips and a Birds and Brews social also will be featured.
Cost to attend the meeting is $69. Walk-in registrations are welcomed. The host site is the Ingleside Hotel, 2810 Golf Road, Pewaukee.

Chimney swift viewing in Whitefish Bay: Bird City Wisconsin is organizing a chimney swift viewing for Sunday evening in Whitefish Bay.
The gathering, free and open to the public, will be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at the corner of Silver Spring Drive and Berkeley Boulevard. Chimney swifts have been roosting in large numbers in a chimney on the Fox Bay Building.
Paul Hunter and Carl Schwartz of Bird City Wisconsin will be at the site for Sunday’s count and viewing.
