Players of the week

The senior running back made a 236-yard, four-touchdown night running the ball look easy in the Lions’ 31-12 victory over visiting Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday. He averaged 10.7 yards per carry, and his 84-yard score broke open the game.

DEFENSE Jack Borck, West Allis Hale: The senior defensive lineman finished with eight tackles in A 12-7 victory over Wauwatosa East. His five tackles for loss tied a school record and his three fumbles forced set a mark.

SPECIAL TEAMS Tyler Tenner, Racine Lutheran: The junior, who returned three punts for touchdowns last year, got his first of

2018 on Thursday, an 81-yard return in the second quarter of a 56-14 victory over Shoreland Lutheran at Horlick Field.

Teams of the week

Waterford: The Wolverines took a major step toward winning their first conference title since 2014 by defeating Badger, the Southern Lakes’ three-time defending champion, 41-20, at home Thursday. The Wolverines scored 21 third-quarter points off three turnovers to break it open. Senior Josh Szeklinski returned an intercepti­on 85 yards for a touchdown to end that quarter. Junior running back Tanner Keller finished with 190 yards and touchdowns of 3, 15 and

51 yards. Senior linebacker Weston Pittelkow (11 tackles) and junior defensive back Will Ketterhage­n (10) led the team in tackles.

West Bend East: The Suns scored the biggest win of Jeff Rondorf’s three-plus seasons as head coach when it defeated Hartford, 27-24, on the road Thursday. The Suns scored the first 21 points with the biggest play being an 87-yard fumble return for a touchdown by senior Caleb Knoll. Still East needed to rally after the Orioles scored 24 unanswered points in the second and third quarters. Junior quarterbac­k T.J. Simpson scored the winner on a 4-yard run with about 21⁄2 minutes left. Brady Schmidt finished with 145 yards in 20 carries and one TD.
