Player of the week

Austin Gayle, Shorewood: The junior have been a fantastic finisher for the Greyhounds, recording 13 points in the team’s five matches. He scored twice last week in victories over Greenfield on Aug. 27 and Greendale on Wednesday to help the team improve to 4-1.

Teams of the week

Pius XI: The Popes posted their second and third shutouts of the season last week with Woodland Conference wins over Milwaukee Lutheran, 10-0, Monday and New Berlin West, 1-0, Thursday

Kettle Moraine: With a 3-0 win over Waukesha West last Tuesday, the Lasers cemented their status as the team to beat in the Classic 8. Senior Nate Etzel, who had two assists, was named player of the match. Junior Aidan Montoure made four saves and got the shutout.

Hartford at Cedarburg, 7 p.m. Tuesday: After having two games postponed last week, Hartford returns to action with a chance to upset one of the state’s best teams.
