No. 12 Virginia Tech 62, William & Mary 17: Steven Peoples had two first-half touchdown runs and host Virginia Tech made quick work of William & Mary.

Josh Jackson threw for one touchdown and ran for another for the Hokies (2-0), who showed no ill effects after winning 24-3 at Florida State on Monday night.

East Carolina 41, North Carolina 19: Freshman quarterbac­k Holton Ahlers ran for two of host East Carolina’s four rushing touchdowns while Reid Herring threw for another score as the Pirates beat North Carolina.

Herring threw for 290 yards while directing a turnover-free performanc­e for ECU (1-1), which was coming off a dispiritin­g home loss to Championsh­ip Subdivisio­n opponent North Carolina A&T.

N.C. State 41, Georgia State 7: Ryan Finley threw two touchdown passes as host North Carolina State routed Georgia State.

Finley was 31 of 38 for 370 yards with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Thayer Thomas and a 1-yard score to Trent Pennix.

South Florida 49, Georgia Tech 38: Blake Barnett threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more to help host South Florida come from behind to beat Georgia Tech.

The Bulls (2-0) rallied from a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit.

Wake Forest 51, Towson 20: Greg Dortch returned two punts for touchdowns and caught a scoring pass as host Wake Forest beat FCS Towson.

Boston College 62, Holy Cross 14: AJ Dillon ran for 149 yards and three touchdowns in less than a quarter, and host Boston College beat in-state rival Holy Cross in the schools’ first meeting in 32 years.

Syracuse 62, Wagner 10: Eric Dungey tied a school record by tossing five touchdown passes to pace Syracuse University to a rout of visiting Wagner in its home opener.

The Orange improved to 2-0.
