Brandt Snedeker birdied the final two holes for a 7-under 65 and a three-stroke lead over Phil Mickelson and two others Friday in the PGA Tour’s season-opening Safeway Open in Napa, Calif.

Playing alongside Hall of Famer Fred Couples, Snedeker had eight birdies and a bogey on the North Course at Silverado Resort and Spa. The leader won the Wyndham Championsh­ip in August, opening with a 59 en route to his ninth PGA Tour title. Snedeker had a 12-under 132 total Mickelson followed his opening 65 with a 69 to join Michael Thompson (65) and Ryan Moore (67) at 10 under.

UL Internatio­nal Crown: The United States enjoyed a perfect morning on the second day, comfortabl­y winning both fourball matches against Thailand to move atop Pool B in the eight-nation tournament in Incheon, South Korea.

Jessica Korda and Michelle Wie bounced back from Thursday’s defeat against Sweden to defeat Moriya Jutanugarn and Pornanong Phatlum,6 and 4. Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson made it two wins in two rounds with a 4 and 3 against Ariya Jutanugarn and Sherman Santiwiwat­thanaphong.

The two victories gave the defending champions six points, ahead of Sweden with four. Japan and Thailand have three each.

NBA

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Andre Roberson will miss at least two months after a setback in his recovery from left knee surgery.

Roberson previously had been doing non-contact work in practice and had hoped to be ready to play in December.

Roberson suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in January and missed the second half of the season. The Thunder suffered without one of the league’s best perimeter defenders, and was eliminated by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs.

The 6-foot-7 Roberson was an All-Defense second-team selection during the 2016-’17 season.

SOCCER

Cameron Murtha and Lauren Rice scored in the second half and the visiting Wisconsin women’s team edged Indiana, 2-1.

HOCKEY

Abby Roque had a hat trick as the secondrank­ed Wisconsin women’s team routed host Mercyhurst, 6-1.
