Andrew celebrating 25 years with Chevrolet
Andrew Schlesinger has just celebrated 25 years with Chevrolet. He is the dealer-principal with ANDREW CHEVROLET in Glendale, on Milwaukee's North Shore. "As I reflect on 25 years with Chevrolet, my continuing motivation is service to oth-ers," said Schlesinger. "I feel a great sense of responsibility to my employees as a custodian of their livelihood, gratitude to my guests for their loyalty and extremely fortunate to be able to give back to the community that has supported me and my family for more than 50 years." Melvin Schlesinger, Andrew's father, was a dealer in Milwaukee for 22 years and while growing up, son Andrew worked part time in a variety of depart- ments at his father's Chevrolet store, originally named Schlesinger Chevrolet. He became general manager in 1984 and then dealer-principal in 1993 when his automotive group, which also in-cludes a Toyota store, moved to its Glendale location on Silver Spring Dr. The dealerships were renamed Andrew Chevrolet and Andrew Toyota in 1993. "Relating to people on a personal level is essential in any successful endeavor," Schlesinger said. "Every job I ever held was people-related, and I learned the key to success is respect and empathy for others." He said his father instilled in him the importance of following through. "Always do what you say you will do," Andrew Schlesinger said. He certainly follows through when it comes to serving his surrounding com-munity. Since 2012, for example, he has influenced almost 70 members of the Automobile Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee to donate at least $1 for every oil change performed between mid-November and February to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, resulting in the purchase of more than 900,000 meals for those in need. Schlesinger has served on the Feeding America board. He is proud to live in the southeastern Wisconsin community with his wife, Jill, and his two children.
