Brady Street goes to the dogs (and cats, and … )

The U.S. Bank Annual Brady Street Pet Parade turns one of the east side's busiest streets into a petting zoo Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Along Brady Street, from Oakland Avenue west, there'll be live music; pet contests starting at 12:15 p.m. (including best trick, pet/owner lookalikes, costumes and best tail-wagging); the parade, starting at 1 p.m. at E. Brady Street and N. Franklin Place; a pet blessing at 1:30 p.m.; and more. Proceeds benefit the Wisconsin Humane Society. Admission is free. Info: bradystree­t.org

The NARI Fall Home and Remodeling

Show takes over Wisconsin State Fair Park's Exposition Center, 8200 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis, this weekend, with more than 100 exhibitors on

hand to offer ideas, services, products and more. Also on the punch list: seminars, activities and even some winesampli­ng. The show's hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Soup's on, for a good cause

The 20th annual Milwaukee Empty

Bowls serves up soup and even more sustenance from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kern Center of the Milwaukee School of Engineerin­g, 1245 N. Broadway. More than 30 restaurant­s will be serving soup, fresh bread and beer (from Sprecher and Lakefront Brewing); people can choose from nearly 2,500 handcrafte­d bowls. Nearly all of the proceeds go to agencies that help feed the hungry. There's also live music and kids' activities. Bowls are $25 each; young artists' bowls go for $10. Beet Street bash in Bay View

The third annual Beet Street Harvest

Festival is Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. outside the Cactus Club, 2496 S. Wentworth Ave. In addition to two stages of live music (one inside, one outside), the festival's attraction­s include the Great Midwestern Pie Championsh­ip, an urban pumpkin patch and the Punk Rock Rummage Sale. Get yer ukuleles out

Can't get enough ukulele music? Get thee to the Greet Lakes Ukulele Gathering Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Anodyne Coffee Roasters, 224 W. Bruce St. It's the ninth year for the festival, which includes workshops, vendors and, from 4 to 6 p.m., a fullon concert. Tickets are $45 for a full day pass and $15 for just the concert. New on stage

"Prince of Players": The Florentine Opera Company takes on the timely tale, set in the 17th century, of the English theater when women were finally allowed to play women on stage, and men found themselves having to train them how to do so.
