Nikavonni’s menswear relocates to Mayfair mall

Store moved to Grand Avenue mall in 2012

Men’s apparel retailer Nikavonni’s has closed its store in the Grand Avenue mall in Milwaukee and is preparing to open at Mayfair mall in Wauwatosa, possibly as soon as this weekend.

Nikavonni’s, which started at a downtown Milwaukee storefront eight years ago and moved to the Grand Avenue in 2012, will be located on the second level of Mayfair.

“We definitely feel great about the decision we made to come over here,” owner Nikki Stephens said Thursday.

The Grand Avenue is undergoing a significant redevelopment, and Stephens said she was concerned the property owners would ask Nikavonni’s to leave on short notice.

She said the Mayfair location gives Nikavonni’s a little more space.

Stephens said she anticipates that customers Nikavonni’s has established over the years will shop at the new Mayfair location. She said it’s also possible the new site will pick up customers of bankrupt Bachrach, a chain menswear store that closed this year at Mayfair.

Nikavonni’s originally was located at 234 W. Wisconsin Ave., just across the street from the Grand Avenue.

“We’re hoping to be open by the weekend. That’s our aim. We’re not going to be officially open until next week. “But we’re definitely going to try to open up these doors on Saturday,” Stephens said.
