Player of the week

Kennedy Osterman, Pewaukee: The junior guard has averaged 7.8 points per game this season, but in the last two contests she has averaged 19, helping the Pirates defeat Woodland East leader South Milwaukee Jan. 18 and Woodland West leader New Berlin Eisenhower on Friday. Against Eisenhower, which was ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Division 2 state poll, she hit 7 of 11 shots, including 5 of 8 from three-point range, for 19 points to help the Pirates score a 75-64 victory that pulled the team within one game of Eisenhower in the Woodland West standings.

Team of the week

Wauwatosa East: The Red Raiders have been competitiv­e throughout Greater Metro Conference play, but they didn’t have a signature victory until Friday when they defeated league-leader Divine Savior Holy Angels, 38-34. Tosa East held the Dashers to three field goals and 13 points in the second half. UW-Green Bay recruit Brooklyn Blackburn, a senior guard/forward, finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for the team, which improved to 11-5 overall and is tied for third in the league with a 7-3 record.

Waterford at Wilmot, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday: Wilmot tries to extend its winning streak to seven games and cut the Wolverines’ Southern Lakes lead to one game.

Whitefish Bay at West Bend West, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday: Bay has a showdown with its North Shore co-leader Slinger on Saturday, but first it must make amends for its only loss of the season. West beat Bay, 62-46, Dec. 7.

Racine Lutheran at Shoreland Lutheran, 5:30 Thursday: Shoreland enters the week with a one-game lead in the Metro Classic over Racine Lutheran and Martin Luther. Racine Lutheran, however, scored a convincing 83-64 victory over Shoreland Dec. 8.

Cudahy at South Milwaukee, 5:45 p.m. Friday: Cudahy needs to win or face the possibilit­y of never catching the first-place Rockets in the Woodland East race.

DSHA at Germantown, 7:15 p.m. Friday: The last time these teams played, DSHA won at the buzzer on a threequart­ers court shot. This time the winner will grab sole possession of the Greater Metro lead, assuming both teams win Tuesday.
