Historic Tosa log cabin will be moved overnight Feb. 27, city says
A historic Wauwatosa log cabin will be relocated overnight Feb. 27.
The 5,000-square-foot cabin will be moved from 2515 N. Wauwatosa Ave. to its new home at 6404 W. North Ave. Residents can expect rolling street closures along North Avenue during the move. The move is scheduled to begin about 10 p.m. Developer Chris Houden in April announced plans to donate the cabin to Galbraith Carnahan Architects for additional office space. In its place, Houden is building a three-story apartment complex called the Gallatin Apartments.
The 1921 log cabin used to belong to former Erie Railroad President Frederick D. Underwood. The home was moved to its current site in 1955, according to the Wisconsin Historical Society.
