Seven in a row.

Brackets to be set

After this weekend, there will be no more résumé-boosting for teams looking to work themselves into better positioning for the postseason.

Coaches will convene for seeding meetings Sunday to determine pairings for sectional play.

Regional play begins on Feb. 19 with finals on Feb. 23. Sectionals then will take place the following week.

A record setter

Kiara Redman-Trotter put her name at the top of the record books at St. Francis this week.

On Thursday, Redman-Trotter became the school’s all-time leading scorer in girls basketball, surpassing the previous record of 1,156 points. Redman-Trotter scored 31 of her team’s 43 points on the night and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Title game set

The Woodland Conference championship game is set.

The top two teams in each division, New Berlin Eisenhower and South Milwaukee, remained in first place throughout the regular season and capped their division titles this week.

Eisenhower (19-2, 11-1 Woodland), downed Greendale and West Allis Central this week to clinch its berth.

The Rockets, meanwhile, went undefeated against Woodland East competition at 12-0 and are 18-3 overall. This season marks quite the one-year turnaround for South Milwaukee after going 10-14 in 2017-’18.

The two teams will meet for the conference championship on Tuesday at Eisenhower.

A big win for Washington

It may not have been a battle for first place, but Milwaukee Washington picked up a win that will help it in the City Conference standings on Tuesday night.

The Purgolders downed Milwaukee Vincent, 59-55, in a battle for second place in the conference.

The Purgolders moved a full game over Vincent for second place in the conference standings behind Milwaukee King.
