Evans gets two-year ban

The NBA has banned Indiana Pacers guard Tyreke Evans at least two years for violating the league’s anti-drug policy.

The league announced that Evans can apply for reinstatem­ent in 2021.

Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard declined to comment at the NBA draft combine in Chicago. The team said it in a statement it would reach out to Evans to offer our support.

A 10-year veteran who will be a free agent after the season, Evans averaged 10.2 points in 69 games after signing with the Pacers in July. He scored 19.4 points per game for Memphis in 2017-18 and previously played for Sacramento and New Orleans.

SOFTBALL Giselle Juarez

fired a no-hitter and struck out 16 as Oklahoma beat Wisconsin, 4-0, in the NCAA Tournament’s Norman (Okla.) Regional on Saturday.

The Sooners (51-2) have won 41 consecutiv­e games, the second-longest winning streak in NCAA Division I history.

UW (41-13) faced Notre Dame or the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in the double-elimnation regional late Saturday.

COLLEGE ATHLETICS

An attorney preparing a lawsuit against Ohio State University on behalf of more than 50 former athletes who claim they were sexually abused by a team physician said Saturday that most of those clients were football players from the school’s storied program, including some who went on to play in the NFL.

Dayton attorney Michael Wright said the abuse happened during required physical examinatio­ns at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center and during treatment for injuries and ailments by physician Richard Strauss at his off-campus clinic and at his home, where he insisted they be seen.

Strauss killed himself in 2005 nearly a decade after he was allowed to retire with honors.

Trish Johnson and Helen Alfredsson shared a four-stroke lead after the third round of the U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championsh­ip in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Johnson had a 5-under 66 and Alfredsson fired a 69.

Julie Inkster was four back after a 71.

HOCKEY

Alex DeBrincat had two goals and an assist to help the United States rout Denmark, 7-1, for the Americans’ fourth straight victory during preliminar­y play at the world championsh­ips in Kosice, Slovakia.

Jeff Blashill became the winningest U.S. coach in world championsh­ip history in the top division with his 18th career victory in 23 games.

TRACK AND FIELD

Olympic champion Omar McLeod made it four straight victories in the 110-meter hurdles at the Shanghai Diamond League.

McLeod couldn’t hold back the tears after finishing in 13.12 seconds. The 25-year-old Jamaican had tweeted that he was “numb” after learning of an aunt’s death 24 hours before the race.

After a strong start, McLeod establishe­d an early lead and, despite being put under pressure in the middle section by China’s Wenjun Xie, kept his cool over the last three hurdles to win.

SOCCER

Raheem Sterling had a hat trick as Manchester City completed the first sweep of English men’s football trophies by routing Watford, 6-0, in the FA Cup final.

Victory for Pep Guardiola’s side came a week after the Premier League trophy was retained to join the League Cup and Community Shield already in City’s possession.
